Syria, Belgium explore expanding partnership in transport and logistics

The Director General of the Syrian General Authority for Land and Seaports, Qutaiba Badawi, discussed on Monday with Arnout Pauwels, Chargé d’Affaires of the Belgian Embassy in Damascus, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.

The talks focused on prospects for facilitating the movement of passengers and goods through Syrian border crossings in a manner that supports commercial activity and boosts regional trade.

Badawi underscored the Authority’s strong interest in strengthening international partnerships, noting Syria’s aim to establish itself as a vital logistical hub for regional transport. He affirmed the Authority’s readiness to provide all facilities that serve the shared interests of both sides.

For his part, Pauwels expressed appreciation for the ongoing efforts to modernize Syria’s border-crossing system and improve the investment environment, emphasizing Belgium’s commitment to maintaining coordination and advancing joint work in the coming period.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continued communication and expanding cooperation to further develop Syrian-Belgian relations in the transport and logistics sectors.
