Singapore, Sept. 14 (SANA) Daily cargo ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to single digits at the start of the week, preliminary tracking data showed, underscoring the continued disruption to one of the world’s most important shipping routes.

Four vessels exited the Gulf through the strait while 10 entered during the same period, Reuters reported, citing data from ship-tracking firm Kpler.

That compares with an average of about 14 crossings per day over the past 10 days.

The figures may not capture all vessel movements, as some ships could have crossed the strait after switching off their Automatic Identification System transponders, making them harder to track.

Before the strait was closed amid the U.S.-Israeli-Iranian war, between 130 and 140 vessels typically passed through the waterway each day.

Markets are continuing to watch developments in talks aimed at reopening the strait
