Bangkok, Sept. 15 (SANA) Syria has presented plans to develop its oil and gas sector at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, as the country seeks to rehabilitate energy infrastructure, restore production capacity and attract international investment.

The Syrian Petroleum Company is participating in the global energy conference, represented by its CEO Youssef Qablawi, with discussions focusing on the future of the gas and energy industries, global sector developments, investment opportunities and international partnerships.

During his address at the conference, Qablawi outlined the company’s strategy to rebuild Syria’s oil and gas sector, including the rehabilitation of infrastructure and the development of damaged and aging fields that have returned to state control.

He said efforts are underway to restore production capacity, improve field performance and create conditions to attract foreign investment and expertise.

Qablawi added that the company aims to explore untapped national resources and expand international cooperation, contributing to a more sustainable energy sector in Syria.

The Gastech 2026 conference and exhibition is being held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from Sept. 14 to 17, bringing together energy industry leaders, policymakers, experts and global companies to discuss developments shaping the future of gas and energy markets.
