Kyiv, Sept. 10 (SANA) Nine people were killed and 43 others injured in Russian drone and air strikes on Ukraine’s Sumy and Mykolaiv regions overnight, Ukrainian officials said Thursday.

Ukrainian police said in a statement on Telegram that five people were killed and 24 others injured in drone attacks on the northeastern Sumy region.

Other drone attacks targeted Seredyna-Buda, Hlukhiv and Velyka Pysarivka, causing civilian casualties, police said.

In the Mykolaiv region, acting governor Heorhii Reshetilov said Russian air strikes hit the port of Mykolaiv as well as civilian and industrial infrastructure, killing four people and injuring 19 others.

Reshetilov said several facilities and infrastructure sites were damaged, while authorities opened an investigation into the attacks.

Diplomatic efforts to end the more than four-year war have intensified in recent days, including visits by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv as part of Washington’s mediation efforts.
