Kathmandu, Aug. 30 (SANA) The death toll from floods that swept through northern Nepal has risen to 734, the country’s emergency management authority said Sunday, adding that the toll remained provisional as search and rescue operations continued.
AFP quoted the authority as saying 2,498 people remained missing.
Flash floods, mudslides and rockslides struck mountainous areas along the China-Nepal border in the Himalayas on Wednesday, causing significant loss of life and material damage and disrupting roads, communications and power supplies.
