Islamabad, Aug. 12 (SANA) Pakistan strongly condemned Wednesday an attack on a commercial vessel in Bab el-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea, reaffirming its commitment to freedom of navigation and maritime security in international waterways in accordance with international law.

Pakistan’s state news agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi as saying that preliminary information indicated three Pakistani nationals were killed and another injured in the attack.

Andrabi said Islamabad was coordinating with Saudi authorities and Yemen’s internationally recognized government to obtain further details about the incident.

He added that Pakistan, a signatory to the maritime coalition announced by Saudi Arabia on July 30, was ready to assist the Kingdom and other coalition partners in protecting supply chains and maritime traffic.

Yemeni authorities said Tuesday that six crew members of a commercial vessel were killed after it was attacked by the Houthi militia while sailing through the Bab el-Mandab Strait.
