Mecca,Aug. 22 (SANA) The Muslim World League (MWL) strongly condemned and rejected the “E1” settlement plan and related activities in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement issued by the MWL general secretariat, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Mohammed al-Issa denounced the dangerous plan, which threatens the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as well as all illegal Israeli settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He said those actions form part of Israel’s continued approach of violating relevant international laws and resolutions and undermining all peace efforts.

Al-Issa called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to immediately halt all acts of violence, violations, settlement policies, and other measures aimed at altering the geographic and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territories.

The E1 plan covers approximately 12 square kilometers east of Jerusalem and seeks to link the illegal Maale Adumim settlement with Jerusalem, effectively cutting geographic contiguity between the northern and southern West Bank and encircling East Jerusalem with a settlement belt that would choke any future possibility of making it the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
