Ankara, July 8 (SANA) Denmark on Wednesday reaffirmed that Greenland is “not for sale” after U.S. President Donald Trump renewed calls for the Arctic island to come under U.S. control.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Denmark’s position had remained unchanged.
“I think the U.S. position on this issue is very clear, and our position has also been clear from the beginning. Greenland is not for sale,” she said, according to AFP.
Trump reiterated on Tuesday that Greenland should be “under the control of the United States,” drawing renewed criticism from those who said the remarks raise concerns over sovereignty and international law.
