Washington, July 2 (SANA) One U.S. service member is missing and three others were injured after an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday, the U.S. military said, adding there was no indication the incident resulted from hostile action.
According to a statement by the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, cited by Reuters, search and rescue operations are underway for the missing aircrew member, while the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
The Fifth Fleet said the helicopter was operating from the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, noting that water landings by helicopters can be highly hazardous even for experienced pilots.
The incident comes as U.S. forces in the Middle East remain on heightened alert amid periodic tensions despite the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
