Kuwait, U.S. discuss strategic partnership amid regional tensions

Washigton, June 5 (SANA) Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held talks Thursday with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, where the two sides reviewed the longstanding strategic partnership between their countries and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in political, defense, investment and cultural fields.

According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the two ministers condemned the repeated Iranian attacks against Kuwait and reaffirmed Kuwait’s full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The two sides stressed the importance of continuing Kuwaiti-American coordination in light of the sensitive circumstances facing the region, emphasizing the need to address current challenges, respond to rapidly evolving developments and strengthen efforts aimed at reinforcing regional security and stability.

They noted that enhanced cooperation would serve the common interests of both countries while contributing to the security and prosperity of the region.

The talks came a day after an Iranian attack targeted Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and injuring several others.
