Washington, July 24 (SANA)    US President Donald Trump said Friday that China and Russia are not participating in the war with Iran, adding that he has received verbal assurances from both countries’ leaders that they will not supply weapons to Tehran.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping told him during their last meeting in Beijing that China and Chinese companies “will not provide or sell any weapons to Iran under any circumstances,” stressing that such transfers are not in Beijing’s interest. Trump added that Russian President Vladimir Putin had likewise assured him that Russia would not sell weapons to Iran, noting that arming Tehran would not serve Moscow’s interests either.

Trump said the two major powers often mentioned in the context of the Iran conflict “are not involved in this war,” warning that any future participation “would be very bad for them and certainly not in their interest”. He stressed that the positions of China and Russia reduce the risk of further escalation and underlined his view that their neutrality supports efforts to contain the conflict.

The US president’s remarks come against the backdrop of fast-moving military developments and tense geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, where the stance of major international powers is closely watched for its impact on regional balances, the course of the war and arms flows to conflict zones.

Trump and Xi had discussed a wide range of contentious issues during their May 14 summit in Beijing, including rising trade tensions and sensitive topics such as the war with Iran and the future of Taiwan, while Washington has also threatened tariffs on any country supplying weapons to Tehran.
