Pakistan offers to host next round of U.S.-Iran talks
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad, May 25 (SANA) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Sunday that Islamabad was prepared to host the next round of talks between the United States and Iran as part of ongoing efforts to end tensions in the Middle East.

Sharif said Pakistan would continue supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

In a post on X, the Pakistani leader praised U.S. President Donald Trump for what he described as efforts to advance diplomacy and welcomed recent discussions involving the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Pakistan.

Sharif said the talks provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and ongoing peace efforts in the region.

Earlier Sunday, Trump said Washington and Tehran had reached a preliminary agreement aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, including arrangements related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He added that final details of the agreement were still under discussion and would be announced later.

Pakistan hosted the first round of U.S.-Iran talks on April 10 as part of mediation efforts between the two sides.
