Paris, May 23 (SANA) France has barred Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering its territory following the circulation of a video related to activists detained during the “Global Freedom Flotilla” operation, the French Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot told AFP that Ben-Gvir was no longer permitted to enter France.

Barrot condemned the “indescribable treatment” of French and European citizens who were aboard the flotilla, which was intercepted by Israeli forces in the eastern Mediterranean. The activists were later detained and deported.

Hundreds of members from a Gaza-bound aid flotilla were brought to Israel’s Ashdod Port on Wednesday, as Ben-Gvir released the video showing some of them shackled and forced to the ground.

In the video, released by Ben-Gvir on his social media channels, dozens of activists are shown kneeling on the floor, bent forward with their heads down and hands bound behind their backs with zip ties, as the Israeli national anthem is played loudly over speakers.

Participants in the Gaza-bound flotilla who were returned to Türkiye said they were subjected to violence and humiliation during their detention by Israeli forces.

Israeli forces detained hundreds of activists from several countries after intercepting the vessels in what organizers described as an attempt to challenge the blockade imposed on Gaza.

French authorities said the entry ban reflected Paris’s response to the reported treatment of the activists and growing international concern over the handling of the flotilla incident.
