Ankara, May. 12 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Interior signed a cooperation protocol with the Turkish Gendarmerie Command in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday, aimed at strengthening joint cooperation and developing security qualification and training programs.
The protocol includes the implementation of advanced specialized courses in criminal investigations, crime scene sciences, and police dog training, in addition to other programs designed to enhance the capabilities of security personnel and raise their professional and field readiness in line with the latest internationally adopted methods and technologies.
The step comes as part of the Syrian Ministry of Interior’s efforts to expand partnerships with counterpart institutions and benefit from advanced expertise in the preparation and qualification of security cadres.
Earlier on Tuesday, delegation from Syria’s Ministry of Interior conducted a series of visits to Turkish security academies in Ankara, held talks on training cooperation and met with Syrian scholarship students enrolled in the programs.

The delegation, which included Director of Training and Qualification Hussein Salman, Director of the Police College Brigadier General Maher Marei, and a number of officers, met with the Director of the Turkish Police Academy, Dr. Murad Balshi, and his deputies to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation in police training and exchanging expertise. The two sides reviewed existing cooperation programs and discussed prospects for their development, with the aim of raising the professional and academic standards of police personnel.
The delegation also met with Syrian students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s programs at the academy, checked on their academic and living conditions, and stressed the importance of academic commitment, institutional discipline, and honorably representing the Ministry of Interior.
The delegation expressed confidence in the students’ capacity to become future leadership figures who will contribute to developing Syria’s security institutions.

In a separate visit, the delegation met with Syrian students seconded to the Turkish Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy to follow up on their academic and training progress. Director of Training and Qualification Hussein Salman emphasized the importance of discipline, seriousness in academic and practical training, and upholding the reputation of the Ministry of Interior and Syria.
The delegation conveyed the ministry’s continued interest in following up on the students’ affairs and commitment to supporting their academic and training journey, stressing that the knowledge and expertise they acquire will play a significant role in developing security work and serving the country.
