Washington, April 25 (SANA) US President Donald Trump said on Saturday he canceled a planned visit by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan for talks with Iranian officials.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said there was little value in sending a delegation on an 18-hour trip, adding that Washington holds strong leverage in its confrontation with Iran and that Iranian officials can contact the United States at any time.
According to Axios, Trump said the decision does not signal a return to war with Iran, adding that such an option had not yet been considered.
The United States had been preparing for a new round of talks with Iran in Islamabad aimed at ending the conflict that erupted on February 28, after an earlier round ended without agreement.
