Doha, April 22 (SANA) Qatar condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by dozens of Israeli settlers and the raising of the Israeli flag within its courtyards, describing the act as a violation of international law and a provocation to Muslims worldwide.
In a statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected any attempts to alter the religious and historical status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque and called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities toward Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The ministry urged firm action to address what it described as repeated violations.
It also reaffirmed Qatar’s longstanding position in support of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to freely practice religious rites and to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
