Abu Dhabi, March 8 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates said Sunday its air defenses destroyed 16 ballistic missiles and intercepted 113 Iranian drones during a series of attacks.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said its forces detected 17 ballistic missiles, destroying 16 of them, while one fell into the sea. Air defenses also intercepted 113 out of 117 drones, with four drones landing inside UAE territory.

The ministry said that since the start of Iranian attacks, UAE defenses have detected 238 ballistic missiles, destroying 221. Fifteen missiles fell into the sea and two landed inside the country.

The ministry added that 1,422 drones had been detected, of which 1,342 were intercepted, while 80 fell inside the UAE. Air defenses also destroyed eight cruise missiles.

The attacks killed four people of Asian nationality and injured 112 others of various nationalities, the ministry said.

Authorities said the UAE remains fully prepared to confront any threats and protect the country’s security, sovereignty and national interests.

The attacks come amid continued Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that began February 28.
