Washington, Feb. 27 (SANA) – American public sympathy for Palestinians has risen to its highest level in more than 20 years, according to a new Gallup poll cited by US media.
The survey found that 41% of Americans now say their sympathies lie more with Palestinians, compared with 36% who sympathize with Israelis — a dramatic shift from previous decades, when support for Israel consistently held a wide lead.
Support for an independent Palestinian state reached 57%, approaching the highest level recorded by Gallup in 2003. Analysts say the shift reflects changing attitudes among Democrats and independents, as well as growing scrutiny of US military aid to Israel.
Commentators note that the trend could influence future debates over US foreign policy, particularly as calls increase to reassess the scale and conditions of American assistance to Israel.
