Occupied Jerusalem, April 16 (SANA) The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education said about 350 students are being held in Israeli occupation prisons under harsh detention conditions that violate international laws and agreements.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the ministry said in a statement marking Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, observed on Friday, that student detainees are subjected to systematic practices including nighttime raids, harsh interrogations, solitary confinement, deprivation of education, as well as medical neglect and mistreatment.
The ministry added that documented testimonies from child detainees and students point to serious violations, including nighttime arrests, shackling, isolation and denial of education, describing these practices as violations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and as systematic targeting of the Palestinian education system.
The ministry called on international institutions to intervene to stop the violations and secure the release of detainees, especially children and students, reaffirming its support for their right to education.
