Istanbul, April 16 (SANA) Türkiye’s parliamentary speaker, Numan Kurtulmuş, called for Israel to be suspended from the United Nations, citing systematic violations and apartheid-like policies against Palestinians.

According to Anadolu, Kurtulmuş made the remarks at the opening of the 152nd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Istanbul, arguing that the international community has previously taken decisive action in similar cases, including the suspension of South Africa from the U.N. in 1974 over its apartheid regime.

He said Israel is applying similar discriminatory practices against Palestinians and described the situation as a system of “two separate laws,” one for Palestinians and one for Israelis, which he said reflects apartheid.

He also stated that Israel is committing mass killings and imposing “death sentences” on Palestinians, urging the international community to take action comparable to past global responses.

Kurtulmuş warned that the current international order is facing a severe crisis and called for stronger efforts to restore credibility and enforce international law.

His remarks come amid ongoing international criticism of Israel’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, where rights groups report widespread detention, mistreatment and deaths in custody.
