Qatar, EU underscore need to strengthen security of vital maritime routes
Emir of Qatar and European Council Chief

Doha, April 15 (SANA) Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held talks Wednesday with European Council Chief Antonio Costa in Doha, highlighting the latest regional and international developments.

Qatar News Agency ‘QNA’ said the meeting focused on regional and international developments, with particular attention to the Middle East, on top, the situation in Gaza Strip and Lebanon, in light of the ongoing Israeli escalation.

The two sides also addressed the impacts of military escalation on the regional security, international navigation security and the stability of global energy markets.

They also discussed means of strengthening the strategic partnership, and Qatar’s position as a reliable partner in supporting global energy security.

Earlier Tuesday, Qatari Foreign Ministry said that any solution to the current regional crisis must be regional, stressing that the immediate priority is implementing a ceasefire between U.S. and Iran.
