Washington, June 6 (SANA) The U.S. military says it carried out strikes on Iranian radar sites in what it called a defensive action after Iran launched four attack drones toward the Strait of Hormuz.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said via platform (X)on Saturday that US forces “shot down four drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz“, which constituted “a direct threat to regional maritime traffic”.
The US military said that the Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites, targeted by the U.S., were located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
Fighting between the two sides ceased on April 8 under a ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, but Washington and Tehran have exchanged fire more than once since then, while Iran continues to close the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States besieges its ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
