Occupied Jerusalem, April 7 (SANA) Israeli settlers continue their attacks on Palestinian lands in the West Bank, uprooting around 400 ancient olive trees, Tuesday, in the plains of Turmus Ayya, north of the city of Ramallah, causing significant losses to farmers whose families depend on the harvest as a primary source of income.
The Palestinian Information Center confirmed that this attack comes as part of a series of ongoing assaults targeting the town of Turmus Ayya, where settlers had previously uprooted hundreds of dunams of agricultural land late last year in favor of settlement expansion, and established a new settlement outpost on the town’s lands a year ago, under the protection of occupation forces.
Residents of the town have been subjected to repeated attacks by settlers, the most violent of which occurred in July 2024, when a young man was killed and several others were injured, in addition to the burning and vandalizing of about 60 vehicles and 30 homes, and the destruction of dozens of agricultural dunams.
The uprooting of old olive trees constitutes a severe blow to the town’s agricultural economy and increases the suffering of residents amid the continued Israeli occupation and expansionist settlement policies in the West Bank.
