Kuwait City, April 3 (SANA) Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery was hit in a drone attack early Friday, sparking fires in several operational units, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said.
In a statement reported by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), KPC described the incident as a “malicious drone attack” and confirmed that emergency and firefighting teams immediately activated response protocols. Authorities said the fires are being contained, with no injuries reported.
Precautionary measures were also implemented to safeguard staff and protect critical infrastructure.
Earlier on Friday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems had intercepted missile and drone attacks over the country.
The attack comes amid a surge in drone and ballistic missile incidents across several Gulf states, including Kuwait, which have been linked to tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
