Damascus, Feb.08 (SANA) Kuwait is participating in the Damascus International Book Fair’s special post-liberation edition, presenting a variety of books and publications aimed at enriching the Arab cultural and intellectual landscape.
Mohammed Zayed Al-Abed of DreamBook Publishing told SANA that this is the first participation of his publishing house at the fair. Their titles range from religious works and novels to personal development and self-help books. He praised the high level of organization and coordination that distinguishes this edition.
Dr. Nagham Ibrahim, representing BookLand Publishing, described her company’s diverse range of publications, including social, psychological, historical, fantasy, horror, translated works, and science fiction. She noted that reading preferences vary by age, with younger visitors favoring detective novels while older attendees gravitate toward historical books.
Author and director of Ishraqat International, Salem Shbeeb, said: “This is our first time at the fair. This edition is excellent in terms of preparation and matches the standards of major international book fairs, from Riyadh to Sharjah.” He highlighted strong visitor interest, particularly in titles on economics, finance, and women’s issues.
The fair, the first after Syria’s liberation, serves as a comprehensive cultural platform, bringing together publishers, writers, and intellectuals from Syria, the Arab world, and several foreign countries. It aims to revive the cultural scene, promote reading, and foster intellectual exchange between visitors and exhibitors.
The event runs until Feb. 16 at the Damascus Exhibition Center, with participation from over 500 publishers from 35 countries, alongside extensive contributions from Syrian public and private entities. The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
