Washington, March 28 (SANA) US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had delivered a “major blow” to Iran, affirming that “regime change in Tehran has already occurred,” while also indicating that Cuba could be “the next target.”
During a speech delivered at an economic investment conference in Miami on Friday evening, Trump criticized NATO member states, expressing his disappointment “at their reluctance to provide military support to Washington in the conflict.”
Trump described Iran as a “bully state,” affirming that Middle Eastern countries “will soon be free from Iran‘s terrorism and extortion.”
Despite his remarks on Thursday about “good negotiations” with Tehran, Trump outlined a series of military claims, stating that US forces had “crushed Iranian nuclear sites,” and Iran “no longer has an air force or air defenses,” adding: “We killed the Supreme Leader, and it appears his son was seriously wounded.”
The US President indicated that his country had “struck thousands of Iranian targets,” mentioning that 3,450 additional targets remain, and affirming that he would decide later “what will happen regarding Iran.” He also emphasized that Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait “were not expected,” calling on Tehran to “open the Strait of Hormuz.”
In a relevant context, despite his administration opening negotiations with Cuban leadership in recent weeks, Trump hinted at the possibility of using military force, stating: “I have built this great military… and I said you wouldn’t have to use it, but sometimes it must be used, and Cuba is next, by the way.”
Trump expressed his displeasure with NATO countries for refusing to send military support to secure the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Washington “may not help them if asked,” adding: “We spend hundreds of billions to protect them… but based on their actions, I don’t think we are obligated to do so.”
