Beirut, March 26 (SANA) Five people were killed and 27 wounded in Israeli airstrikes on Thursday targeting towns in southern Lebanon, according to the Emergency Operations Center at Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
The center said eight people were wounded in an earlier Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Arab Salim in Nabatieh district.
Earlier on Thursday, Lebanon’s health ministry announced that five people were killed and 19 others injured in Israeli strikes targeting the towns of Harouf in Nabatieh district, Touline in Marjayoun district, and Kounine in Bint Jbeil district.
Israeli warplanes also carried out multiple air raids since dawn on the towns of Aita al-Shaab in Bint Jbeil district, as well as Siddiqine and Jabal al-Batm in the Tyre area, Lebanese media reported.
Several areas in Bint Jbeil, Khiam, Wadi al-Salouqi, Wadi al-Hujeir and the town of Shaqra were subjected to heavy artillery shelling.
Israel has intensified its attacks on Lebanon since March 2 following strikes by Hezbollah on Israeli positions. The escalation has included near-daily air raids on Beirut’s southern suburbs and wide areas across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.
The developments have coincided with ground incursions along several axes in southern Lebanon, aimed at separating areas south of the Litani River from those to the north and establishing what Israeli officials describe as a buffer zone.
According to Lebanon’s Emergency Operations Center, the ongoing attacks have resulted in about 2,000 deaths and 3,119 injuries as of Wednesday.
