Geneva, June 19 (SANA) Switzerland has postponed talks that were due to take place in Geneva between the United States and Iran, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said on Friday, without announcing a new date.

In a statement cited by AFP, the ministry said planned discussions involving the United States, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan had been postponed indefinitely.

“Switzerland remains ready to facilitate these talks while the necessary preparatory work continues,” the ministry said.

The ministry did not provide a reason for the postponement and said no date had been set for the resumption of negotiations.

The announcement came hours after the cancellation of a planned visit by U.S. Vice President JD Vance to Switzerland, although officials have not linked the two developments.

On Thursday, the Swiss government said preliminary talks between U.S. and Iranian representatives were scheduled to be held on Friday at the Bürgenstock mountain resort.

The talks were scheduled to follow the signing of a framework ceasefire agreement between the two sides, according to the Swiss government.
