Abu Dhabi, March 24 (SANA) United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed escalating tensions in the Middle East during a phone call on Monday, according to state news agency WAM.
The two leaders reviewed the impact of intensifying military activity in the region, including risks to global shipping routes and the wider economy, and exchanged views on efforts to de-escalate the situation.
They also discussed Iranian attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in the UAE and elsewhere in the region, WAM said.
Rutte condemned the attacks, saying they violate international law and the United Nations Charter, and expressed support for measures taken by the UAE to protect its security and territory.
Recent weeks have seen rising regional tensions, with Iran launching missile and drone strikes on several countries, including the UAE, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure
