Ankara, March 18 (SANA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that the ongoing Israeli attacks in the region go beyond security justifications, warning that they are part of broader agendas that risk dragging the region into a wider catastrophe.
Speaking during a meeting with journalists and writers at the presidential complex in Ankara, Erdoğan said that the Israeli occupation continues to carry out what he described as arbitrary practices, including violations against holy sites and restrictions on worshippers. He noted that authorities kept Al-Aqsa Mosque closed to Muslim worshippers for 17 days without justification, describing the measure as unjustified and unlawful.
Erdoğan added that the ongoing escalation, including attacks targeting civilians and forced displacement, comes at a time when the global system is undergoing a major transformation, stressing the need to convey the reality of developments in the region to the international community.
He emphasized that the Israeli attacks are driven by broader strategic agendas affecting the entire region, calling on media institutions to play a stronger role in exposing these practices and amplifying their impact on the global stage.
The remarks come amid continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon since early March, which have resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries, according to official Lebanese data, further heightening regional tensions.
