Washington, March 21 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning on Saturday, threatening to deploy agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to conduct security screenings at American airports. The move comes as the aviation sector grapples with a severe shortage of specialized TSA personnel caused by the ongoing partial government shutdown.
In a post on his “Truth Social” platform, the President stated that if Democrats do not immediately sign an agreement to guarantee airport security, he will authorize ICE agents to take over these duties. He directed his criticism toward what he described as ” The Fascists ” within the Democratic Party, blaming them for the current impasse.
The threat arrives as travelers face record-breaking wait times at major hubs across the United States. Specialist screeners have been working without pay since the Department of Homeland Security entered a partial shutdown on February 14. The crisis is the result of deep-seated partisan divisions between Republicans and Democrats over immigration policy and border funding.
This marks the third government shutdown during Trump’s second term. The first lasted 35 days in December 2018, while the second set a historical record, spanning 43 days throughout October and November of last year.
