Jakarta, March 13 (SANA) – Indonesia announced Friday the postponement of the upcoming summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation, citing the continuing U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.
An Indonesian Foreign Ministry official, Tri Tharyat, said the foreign minister had sent a letter to his counterparts informing them that the summit scheduled for April would be postponed to a later date.
“There are no tangible indications of de-escalation at this stage,” Tharyat told reporters, according to AFP.
A new date for the meeting has not yet been set. The four-day event was expected to include a leaders’ summit on April 15.
The D-8 group includes Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nigeria and Pakistan.
The war between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other entered its 14th day, amid continued Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting several Arab countries in the region.
