Berlin (SANA), March 12 (SANA) German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd announced on Thursday that shrapnel from projectiles hit one of its ships near the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire to break out on board.

Reuters quoted the company as saying in a statement: “The container ship ‘Source Blessing’, flying the Liberian flag, was not directly hit, but it caught fire without causing any human casualties.”

Iranian attacks targeting oil tankers and cargo ships operating in the Arabian Gulf are on the rise.

Earlier on Thursday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a container ship was attacked by an “unknown projectile” off the coast of the UAE. Meanwhile, two foreign oil tankers caught fire in Iraqi waters following an Iranian attack last night, resulting in at least one death.
