Washington, March 11 (SANA) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Wednesday that its forces destroyed 16 Iranian vessels used for laying naval mines near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement posted on the platform X, CENTCOM said the operation was carried out on March 10 and targeted Iranian maritime units it described as posing a threat to international navigation.

The statement was accompanied by video footage showing several vessels being struck by projectiles and exploding.

Earlier this month, the US military said it had struck more than 3,000 targets during the first week of the war against Iran.

Since February 28, the United States and Israel have been carrying out continuous attacks on Iran, which has responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel and carrying out attacks on several countries in the region.
