Beirut, March 10 (SANA) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Tuesday that the number of people displaced by the ongoing Israeli strikes in Lebanon has reached 667,000. Karolina Lindholm Billing, the UNHCR representative in Lebanon, described a “massive upending of lives,” noting that 100,000 people registered as displaced in the last 24 hours alone.
According to Agence France-Presse, Billing highlighted the staggering pace of the crisis, which has accelerated since the military escalation began on March 2. According to Lebanese government figures, more than 667,000 individuals are now recorded on the national online displacement platform.
The escalation followed a series of rocket attacks by Hezbollah on Israeli positions, which triggered heavy bombardment across the southern suburbs of Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley.
