New York, April 21 (SANA) The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) said in a statement posted on X on Tuesday that 2025 represents a key milestone in Syria’s transition from humanitarian response to early recovery and development-oriented programing.
The agency said its operations expanded significantly during the year, focusing on job creation, rehabilitation of essential services and community-based recovery initiatives across the country.
According to the UNDP, its programs reached around 8.9 million people across Syria in 2025, with activities implemented in all 14 governorates. These included efforts to restore basic infrastructure, support livelihoods and strengthen local service delivery systems.
The agency said its interventions prioritized enhancing community resilience, improving access to essential services and creating employment opportunities, contributing to broader stability and recovery efforts.
UNDP remains a key international partner in Syria’s recovery process, working with local and international stakeholders on projects in infrastructure, energy, education, livelihoods and vocational training, alongside wider United Nations humanitarian operations .
