Beirut, March 6 (SANA) Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Friday reaffirmed that the state monopoly on weapons remains in place, emphasizing that authority over war and peace must stay with the government.
Israel has carried out airstrikes since Monday following Hezbollah militia’s rocket attacks, striking southern Beirut, other parts of southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. The strikes have killed 123 people and injured 683.
Salam told ambassadors, “Some Lebanese are paying a high price, but all of Lebanon is a victim,” adding that the government is coordinating with international partners to halt Israeli strikes.
Earlier, the government tasked the army with enforcing the state monopoly on arms and moved to prevent any activity by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members ahead of deporting them.
