Doha, March 5 (SANA) Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said his country “cannot accept any aggression against its territory under any pretext,” describing recent Iranian attacks as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty.”

In a statement Thursday, Al Thani said the incidents contradict the principles of good neighborliness and warned that renewed Iranian attacks on Qatari territory threaten regional stability and existing understandings between countries in the region.

He said Qatar has sought to remain outside regional conflicts and has worked to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community, but added that the recent targeting of its territory “does not reflect good faith.”

Al Thani called for an immediate halt to escalating actions and urged all parties to return to negotiations.

Earlier, the Qatari Defense Ministry said its air defense systems successfully intercepted new Iranian attacks on Thursday. It added that the air defenses have so far intercepted three cruise missiles, 24 drones, 98 ballistic missiles and two Sukhoi-24 aircraft.

In a statement carried by the state news agency, the ministry urged residents to follow security instructions, avoid spreading rumors and rely on official sources for information.
