Capitals, March 4 (SANA) Israel warned Wednesday that any successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could be targeted if Iran continues threatening Israel and its allies.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said in a post on X that any Iranian leader who continues to threaten Israel, the United States, or regional countries “will be a confirmed target for assassination wherever they are.”
Katz added that the Israeli military was prepared to carry out such operations using all available means as part of joint actions with the United States.
Iranian media also reported that Iran’s newly appointed defense minister, Majid bin Reza, was killed in an Israeli airstrike two days after succeeding General Aziz Nasirzadeh, who was killed at the start of the war.
Reports have circulated naming Mojtaba Khamenei as a possible successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, although Tehran has not officially confirmed the appointment.
U.S. and Israeli forces have launched strikes on sites inside Iran since Saturday. Tehran retaliated with missile attacks on Israel and U.S. military sites and infrastructures in several Arab countries, raising fears of a wider conflict.
