Washington, March 1 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday warned that the United States would launch “unprecedented” strikes against Iran if Tehran carries out a major military retaliation following the joint U.S.-Israeli attack that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Iran had signaled it would respond forcefully.

“Iran has announced that it will strike very hard today, harder than ever before. It had better not do that, because if it does, we will hit it with unprecedented force,” he wrote.

Trump added that U.S. strikes would continue “as long as necessary,” and said Khamenei’s death offered what he described as the “best opportunity” for Iranians to reclaim control of their country.

Earlier Sunday, Trump confirmed that Khamenei had been killed in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Tehran on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale assault on Iranian targets, striking dozens of sites simultaneously. Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles and drones at targets inside Israel and launching attacks on sites in several Gulf states.
