Ankara, Feb. 23 (SANA) A spokesman for Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) said on Monday that any Israeli threat to the sovereignty of Arab countries was “illegitimate,” and warned that Israel’s expansionist policy is a form of “genocide”.
The Anadolu Agency quoted AK Party spokesman Ömer Çelik as saying that Israel had “no rights or sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other Arab lands.”
Çelik also criticized Israel’s attempts to annex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip, describing such moves as a “form of genocide”.
“An attempt to replace international law with fanatical religious claims will have serious consequences throughout the region,” Çelik said, adding that Türkiye firmly rejects any approach that promotes Israeli dominance in the Middle East.
His comments came in response to remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who on Saturday expressed support for Israeli claims of a “biblical right” extending from the Nile to the Euphrates. The remarks drew widespread Arab and Islamic condemnation.
