Ankara, Feb.02 (SANA) -Eight Arab and Islamic countries on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, warning that continued breaches risk escalating tensions and undermining regional and international efforts to stabilize the situation.
In a joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Jordan, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, the countries said Israel’s recent actions threaten to derail political efforts and weaken momentum toward advancing the second phase of the peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The statement said the continued violations pose a direct threat to the political process and hinder efforts to create conditions for a more stable phase in Gaza, both in security and humanitarian terms. The ministers stressed the need for full adherence to the second phase of the peace plan to ensure its success.
They urged all parties to meet their responsibilities and exercise maximum restraint during this sensitive period, in line with international law, relevant Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The ministers also emphasized the importance of preserving the ceasefire as a cornerstone for achieving a just and lasting peace, based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. They warned against any actions that could undermine the ongoing process and called for creating conditions conducive to early recovery and reconstruction.
The statement followed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Saturday that killed more than 30 Palestinians and injured others, in yet another violation of the ceasefire in force since Oct. 10.
