Istanbul, Jan. 15 (SANA) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed on Thursday that the SDF Organization continues to cause problems in Syria, Turkey, and the rest of the region, expressing his hope that this dilemma will be resolved this year.
During a meeting in Istanbul with representatives of local and international media, Fidan emphasized that the organization is trying to buy time by appearing to be engaged in dialogue, calling on it to demonstrate good faith and rely on diplomacy, while Turkey continues its resolute policy to ensure the region is cleared of terrorism.
The minister pointed to the SDF’s continued violations of agreements with the Syrian government, its targeting of security forces and residential areas, and its recruitment of wanted individuals and criminals with the support of Iran and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
In another context, Fidan considered Syria’s integration into the international community by 2025 to be one of the most significant positive developments, expressing his hope for continued regional and international support for this process. He also warned of escalating Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon, stressing that Israel’s policy of destabilizing neighboring countries poses a threat to the region and the world.
