Jeddah, Jan. 4 (SANA) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed Saudi Arabia’s initiative to hold a comprehensive dialogue conference in Riyadh, following a request from Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.
The conference will bring together various southern political factions to discuss fair solutions to the Southern Issue through inclusive and responsible dialogue.
In a statement on Sunday, OIC Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha said the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering unity, rejecting violence, and promoting peace. He emphasized that sincere, inclusive dialogue is the only path to lasting peace and stability in Yemen.
A source in the Yemeni Presidency said Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, formally requested Saudi Arabia to host the conference, a proposal that was welcomed and approved by the Kingdom.
Al-Alimi’s initiative has received broad Arab support. Syria, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the Arab League expressed backing for the conference and affirmed their support for all efforts to strengthen Yemen’s security and stability.
