UNESCO adopt four resolutions in favor of Palestine

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomed the unanimous adoption by the General Conference of UNESCO of four resolutions related to Jerusalem, the current situation in the Gaza Strip concerning the organization, the activities of UNRWA, and the educational and cultural institutions in the occupied territories.

In a statement on Monday, carried by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the ministry said that the importance of these resolutions lies in their timing, as Israel continues its crimes and violations in the fields of education, culture, and tangible and intangible heritage, deliberately targeting heritage sites, schools, educational and media institutions, and journalists in the Gaza Strip, and committing genocide and cultural genocide that extend to the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The ministry explained that the occupation continues to violate and desecrate archaeological and religious sites in an attempt to change the legal and historical reality of Jerusalem and its walls, stressing the need to develop a special action plan to preserve the city’s cultural heritage, in addition to protecting Al-Haram al-Sharif (the Holy Sanctuary).

The ministry called on countries of the world and member states of the organization to work toward reviving the devastated Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and to provide political and financial support for recovery and reconstruction efforts.
