The U.S. military carried out a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean on Thursday, killing three people suspected of smuggling narcotics, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
“At the direction of President Trump, the Department of War conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a designated terrorist organization,” Hegseth said in a post on X. “The vessel was trafficking narcotics in the Caribbean and was struck in international waters.”
The United States has conducted a series of strikes in the Caribbean since early September as part of what Washington describes as a campaign to curb drug trafficking into the country. The latest attack brings the reported death toll from the campaign to at least 70.
