Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 100 people in the Gaza Strip in under 12 hours, with at least 35 of the victims reported to be children, as the ongoing war intensifies. The strikes, described by the Palestinian Civil Defense (PCD) as “horrific massacres,” against Palestinian people.
The PCD, condemned in a statement the latest attacks and called for immediate international intervention. The organization accused the global community, including mediators and policymakers, of inaction in the face of ongoing human rights violations.
“What is happening in Gaza is a shame on humanity,” said Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense. “The international community’s silence has made it complicit in these violations.”
According to PCD, rescue teams have continued their efforts to save civilians from under the rubble, despite facing significant obstacles. Hospitals in Gaza are overwhelmed, treating an increasing number of critically injured patients, while basic medical supplies and fuel are running low.
“We are working under extreme conditions, but our teams will continue their efforts to assist those in need,” Bassal added.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, the PCD called for urgent international action, to enforce comprehensive ceasefire and to open safe humanitarian corridors to allow the flow of vital supplies, including fuel, medical equipment, and humanitarian aid for both rescue teams and hospitals.
It urged for international protection for civilians, along with rescue and medical personnel, in accordance with international law and the Geneva Conventions.
The Palestinian Civil Defense has called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility to protect civilians and support Gaza’s recovery efforts. Despite the challenges, the organization affirmed its commitment to serving the people of Gaza, stating it would continue its life-saving operations “until the last moment.”
