One Peacekeeper Wounded by Israeli Drone Attack in Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Sunday that one of its members was wounded by an Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon.

The UNIFIL was quoted by Lebanese National News Agency as sayin that this attack represents a “serious violation of resolution 1701 and disturbing disregard for the safety of peacekeepers implementing their mandate from the Security Council.”

“Israeli drone dropped a grenade that exploded near a UNIFIL position” in Kfar Kela On Saturday, the statement said adding that One peacekeeper was “slightly injured and received medical assistance.”

“We again call on the Israel to cease attacks on or near peacekeepers, who are working to rebuild the stability that both Israel and Lebanon have committed to restore,” the UN peacekeeping force said.

This is the second such attack this month targeting UNIFIL forces.
