Madrid – SANA
The Spanish government has canceled a €700 million arms deal with Israel, citing the ongoing military campaign in Gaza as the reason for its decision.
According to the European news outlet Euronews, Spanish authorities terminated a major contract for the purchase of artillery systems manufactured by Israeli defense company Elbit Systems. This marks the second weapons deal Madrid has scrapped this month in response to the aggression in Gaza, bringing the total value of canceled contracts to approximately €1 billion.
Earlier, on the 9th of this month, the Spanish government annulled another agreement involving the acquisition of 168 anti-tank missile launchers. The weapons were to be produced domestically under license from an Israeli firm, with the contract valued at €287.5 million.
