Cairo, SANA
Arab League spokesman Jamal Rushdi affirmed that the extraordinary Arab–Islamic summit convening Monday in Doha will express full solidarity with Qatar following the unprecedented Israeli airstrike targeting its territory.
“The summit will address the repercussions of the attack on Qatari sovereignty, unify Arab and Islamic positions in defense of international law, and back any measures Qatar may take to safeguard its security,” Rashdi said in statements to the Qatar News Agency, QNA.
Rushdi added that the meeting will also call for de-escalation in the region, press the international community to rein in Israel’s destabilizing behavior, and demand an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The Israeli strike on residential buildings in Doha coincided with the presence of a Hamas delegation in the Qatari capital discussing a U.S. ceasefire proposal. Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani affirmed that his country will take all necessary steps to protect its security.
